BETTY J. HOSS
Betty Jenne (Mrs. George) Hoss, age 82 of Faribault, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Sunday, January 16th from 2 to 4 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Betty Jenne, the daughter of Alphonse and Babette (Sindel) Schneider, was born June 6, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. As a young child, Betty moved with her parents back to Dinkelsburg, Germany. She returned to New York in 1946. She married George L. Hoss on February 12, 1949 in Rockville Center, NY and he preceded her in death on November 18, 1997. Betty was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Washington D.C. for 30 years. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Schatzi" (sweetheart in German).
She is survived by her four daughters, Michelle (and Curt) Becher of Faribault, Cathy (and Dave) Jesmer of Centreville, VA, Mary (and Jerry) Twombly of Leesburg, VA and Virginia (and Michael Callahan) Wolff of Burbank, CA; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Also, very special friend, Norma Lyons, whose friendship she treasured.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and great granddaughter, Victoria Bateman.
The family would like to thank Dr. Drevlow, Dr. Schwartz, Donna Casper and Infusion Clinic Staff at District One Hospital for their compassion and excellent care. We also thank Faribault Area Hospice, especially Marcia Hallet, RN, Jean Brazil, LSW, Nancy Donkers, LPN and Krisann Caron, LPN for their support and excellent care of our mother. A special thank you to Inga Kern for your friendship and for always bringing communion to our mom.

I met Betty when I was employed at the State Bank. After my retirement, I happened to meet her again at the grocery store and the Faribault Sr. Center. She was a delightful person. We often talked about good recipes. I am sure that she must have been a good cook! Condolences to all of you.
