HELEN M. MARN

 

 

     Helen M. Marn, age 76, of St. Paul and formerly of Ely, died on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.

      A Memorial Mass will be held at Church of St. Mark, St. Paul on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 10 a.m.  A memorial visitation will be held at the church for one half hour prior to the services on Wednesday.

      An additional Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ely with the Reverend James Scheuer, officiating, on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be held in the Ely Cemetery, Ely.  A memorial visitation will be held in the church for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

      Helen, the daughter of Valentine and Helena (Rus) Marn was born on January 26, 1932 in Ely.  Helen was formerly employed by Minneapolis Star and Tribune.

      She is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Steve (and Judy) Marn of Aurora, Mary Ann (and John) Lekatz of Ely, Margery Tschetter of Gainesville, FL, Greg (and Pat) Marn of Lake City, Marilyn (and Dan) Kaufman of Minneapolis, Michael Marn of Minneapolis and Gary (and Deb) Marn of St. Cloud; 12 great nieces and nephews, Derek Marn, Tracey Marn, Carol (and James) Rist, David (and Melissa) Lekatz, Cheryl (and Derek) Grochowski, Taryn Tschetter, Matthew Tschetter, Gregory Marn, Jeffrey (and Carrie) Marn, Jacob Marn, John Kaufman and Dan Kaufman; great, great nieces and nephews, Taylor Marn, Joshua Rist, Morgan Rist, Mikayla Lekatz, Matthew Lekatz.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, Mary Vidmar, John, Frank Steve and Albert Marn; and one nephew, John Marn.

Memories

Helen was aa wonderful friend and colleague for many years, starting in the late 1970s at Cowles Media. My wife and I always had great admiration for her and her many accomplishments .
