Olga C. (Mrs. Vernon)
Pofahl, age 94, of Walcott Township, rural Rice
County, died on Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the Kenyon Sunset Home.
Services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Medford on Wednesday,
October 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with The Reverend Dean Rudloff officiating.
Interment will be in Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Tuesday from
4 to 7 p.m. and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on
Olga Caroline, the daughter of Peter and Ida (Lee) Houglum, was born
January 31, 1913 in Merton Township, Steele County, Minnesota. She attended
country school in the Moland area. Olga was baptized on February 12, 1913
and confirmed on June 27, 1926 at Moland Lutheran Church. She married
Vernon R. Pofahl on May 28, 1932 in Kenyon. Together they farmed in Walcott
Township. She was employed at the Owatonna Hospital for 18 years retiring
in 1978. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, quilt and rug making,
gardening, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Medford, Ladies Aid and Craft Group.
She is survived by four children, Elaine (and Roger) Foss of Faribault,
Vera (and Harvey) Hobbs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, Darrel (and
Yvonne) Pofahl of Faribault and Glen (and Christine) Pofahl of Cannon Falls;
eight grandchildren, Susan (and Mickey) Bluedorn, Sharon Foss, Dawn (and
John) Whyte, Loren Pofahl, Allen (and Tanja) Pofahl, Anna (and Brett)
George, Rebecca (and Daniel) Grothe, and Carla (and Jeff) Preuss; seven
great grandchildren, Brian (and Kelly) Bluedorn, Amy Bluedorn, Oskar
Grothe, Lindsay Matthews, Hannah and Ella Pofahl and Lily George; one great
great granddaughter, Allison Bluedorn; two sisters, Charlotte (and Earl)
Bonde and Jeanette (and Vaughn) Kispert; two sisters-in-law, Anna Houglum
and Marian Houglum and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon, on
February 2, 2001; five brothers, Clarence, Berthram, Norman, Melvin and
Marvin, and two sisters, Cora Johnson and Palma Houglum.
