Mabel (Mrs. Ben) Smith, age 96, of Faribault, died on Tuesday, July 3,
2007 at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Faribault.
   Services will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheeling
Township, Rice County on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with the
Reverend Doris Underdahl, officiating.  Interment will be at the Meadow
Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
   Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Sunday, July
8, 2007 from 2 to 5 p.m. and also for one hour prior to the services on
   Mabel E., the daughter of Henry and Louise (Keller) Luebke was born on
June 5, 1911 in Goodhue County.  She survived the Spanish Influenza in 1918.
She married Benjamin Franklin Smith on March 4, 1935 in Nerstrand.  She was
baptized, confirmed and married by Pastor William Koring of St. John's
United Church of Christ, Wheeling Township. She was employed by St. Lucas
Care Center for many years.  She enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time
with her family and was also active in her church.
   She is survived by three children, Marjean M. Smith, Dale (and Joan)
Smith and Judy Ann Smith all of Faribault; three grandchildren, Sandra (and
Paul Varley, Timothy (and Natalie) Smith and Rebecca (and Steve) Brown; six
great grandchildren, Amanda and Daniel Varley, Taylor and Jason Smith, Erica
and Jeb Brown.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; two brothers, Edmund and
Victor Luebke; six sisters, Lenora Leahy, Irene Bultman, Minnie Mensing,
Lucinda Wille, Selma Bauer and Gertrude Heyer.
