Happy Birthday Mitch. We miss you so much. We recently had Jobe's b-day party, and it wasn't the same without you. While I was trying to find a tape to record on it was hard because almost all of my videos have been recorded by you. His b-day party was differant. For the 1st time since Jobe's 2nd birthday we didn't go to Chuck-e-Cheese, because I knew it would be too hard for everyone, especially Jobe. He talks about you all the time. He loves playing with your toys, and he takes such good care of them, just like you taught him. I want to say thank you for sharing your family with me. If it weren't for you I wouldn.t be where I am today. I don't know if I would of made it as far as I have. I owe that to you. You were always there whenever I needed you. I wish you were here to watch Jobe grow up. He is in hockey now, and I wish you could of gone to his practices and taken him to Jefferson and skated with him. Annabelle and Jobe have such a special bond. He looks after her so much, and it is so cute. You were like Jobe's dad and I appreciate everything. I love you like a brother and I hope you knew that. I will finally be graduating on May 20th finally. Can you believe it?? Well you have taught me so much on how to be compassionate for people of all walks of life and to be unselfish. I look up to you, in more way than one. Love you.

Mitch i really haven't been able to write in here cause it would tear me up inside. I've had a big problem dealing with this whole thing and i think i'm finally comming to terms with it. I miss you like no other, i feel like a part of me went with you because we were friends for so long. You don't realize how much you love someone till it's to late. I believe you know that i loved you just like everyone else did. I believe that your here with all of us and i believe that you've been wanting to kick me in the butt and say "snap out of it". I think i finally am. I'm starting to feel a little better now. It's Jobe's b-day today ad we're not going to Chucky Cheese cause it won't be the same without you. You stopped to help people and the police and that is awsome. I can't help but wonder if me wanting to be a cop had anything to do with you wanting to help cops so much. But i want you know i'm finishing my L.E. degree and i know your right there pushing me to do better. i graduate in June than hopefully get a cop job not long after! In want you to know i think about you every day and i think i always will. I love you and miss you and i'll see ya again later..I gotta go to jobe's b-day now...take care

Mitch- ever since I heard about your accident my world has changed. I have not been the same ever since. I feel like a part of me died with you. You were like a brother to me. You were always there for me whenever I needed a smile, or someone to talk to. Over the years I have vented so many things to you. Also you stood up for me so many times when you know who would try to start drama. I miss you so much. I am trying to be so strong. Jobe was at your house the other day, and it broke my heart when he said nobody would play with him. I know you would of been, and were right next to him. We miss your voice, and your log arms to give a hug whenever. I need a hug Mitch. I miss my brother. I would give anything to get you back. I promise to be by your daughters side. And I have already told Lindsay to call me anytime. I will be there for her like you were always there for me. I love you, and will see you again someday. Rest in peace.

Memories

This is a letter to mitch... Hunny I've been with you for almost three years now and it seems like an eternity. you've changed me for the better, and i know our relationship did the same for you. we've been through so many things; both ups and downs. i've loved you since the moment i met you and i'll never ever stop loving you. i wouldnt be the same person without you in my heart. i've never met anyone quite like you. you're so open, so non-judgmental, so caring and so care-free. i wish everyone were more like you... the world would be a much better place. (you and i and everyone else knows that.) it doesnt seem fair for someone like you to lose his life, and for annabelle to lose such a wonderful daddy. you would have done anything for this little girl. she'll always know you, and she'll always love you... i know you'll always be there no matter what and i'll make sure annabelle knows. remember... she's gonna be the cutest baby in the world and with you and i as her parents i'm pretty sure she'll be the coolest baby in the world too! i miss you so much, i feel like i need to call you, like i need you to hold me and make it all better... you were always there for me when i was upset. even when it was something rediculous and my hormones were going crazy. i'm sure you were laughing inside. remember that rainy day that i got locked inside the car? i was so upset and you made sure i was ok, and that i was calm before you hung up the phone... and i'm sure you had a laugh afterwards! you were always so happy and i know i put you through hell sometimes, especially throughout this pregnancy! but you loved me unconditionally, the same way i love you. everything was so perfect... i couldnt have asked for anything or anyone better. we had a crazy life together but if it were anything different i think people would ask questions. i know you're happy and i know you're watching over us all. your family and your friends will miss you so so much. i still can't imagine a world without you... but that's why this little girl is coming! she's gonna be just like her daddy, and she'll make the world a better place just like you did. we'll love you forever and i'll never stop talking to you, i know you're still here... i've even had proof. i know you hear me and i know you'll take care of your family. i'll love you always and forever. XOXO, Lindsay and baby Annabelle

Memories

Wayne, Linda, Erica, Lindsey...I just wanted you to know how much Mitch looked up to each one of you. Mitch has been one of my best friends for the last 15 years. We've been through a lot together from serving food at school in 8th grade to road trips to Florida to building derby cars to spending time with my nephew Jobe. I should say our nephew because Mitch has been there for Jobe since day 1 and they have a special bond together. I just want you to know Erica that Mitch was so proud of you for everything that you have accomplished and the things you believe in. If anyone had a problem with the field that you worked in he would offer your number to them so that they could talk to you about it. Wayne I know he looked up to you and loved you very much no matter what went on. Linda I'm sure you were the one show him how to love and care about people. He loved you and was proud of you. Lindsey i have been really close to Mitch for many years and believe me when I say he loved you more than anything. We talked about it many times!! You were the one person that made him into the man he wanted to be. The man who was going to take care of his woman and child and that is awsome. I felt like a big part of me was missing when this happened, but I've come to realize that I'm closer to Mitch now than I ever was. He died doing what he believed in, and that was helping people. Mitch i love you and will always remember you.

Everyone at SCCADVASA had the plesure of meeting and talking with Mitch during one of our "marathon"training sessions in Greenville SC several years ago. Mith had come to SC to visit his sister Erica and ended up "volunteering" at our conference. He was a willing and eager helper and did whatever needed to be done that day without complaint. He provided all of us with a string of funny stories and kept us all distracted with laughs and smiles while we worked. My memory of that day is very special and I, along with the rest of the staff will hold it close to our hearts. We are very thankful for the brief but delightful time we had with Mith. love, Vicki and the rest of Erica's SCCADVASA family.

To the family – I'm so sorry for your loss. I hadn't talked to Mitch in quite awhile, but we shared the honor of riding the same bench for a few years of basketball. I, like so many others, fondly remember the times when Mitch's positive attitude made things seem just a little better. Those little differences, added up, meant a whole lot. He'll be missed.

Mitch was a great friend, buddy, pal, babysitter and many other things. You can never write all the things Mitch did for his friends the list goes on and on. I remember when he said"jeanna gues what Im going to do day care." Im going to watch jobe. Then when I talk to him later on I asked him how it was going He said awesome and Jobe was his lil buddy. He was great was kids. so kind hearted. Just a couple weeks ago I hung out with Mitch and Lindsay. I left early to go home. If I knew that would be my last time seeing him I would of stayed longer. All the memories pop back into my head. we had so much fun. rollerblading picking danilions and saying that they were flowers to put into our hair. Playing moose at finny and pegs house and the bon fires. Making sure you always had a way home at 3 oclock in the morning. Sitting in your parents drive way just talking about random stuff. He always had somthing to say. Mitch wrote me a big letter on my space how he is going to be a dad and could I belive it. He said he was going to be the best dad in the whole world. I was so proud of him. Im going to miss never being able to rollerblade, 4wheel, ride bikes, going to partys or even see him be the awesome dad he wanted to be. Mitch I love you as my Friend and will never Forget you. Never.

I feel so bad that when you were grade school you wanted to wear one of my purple hearts to school and I didn't let you, I was afraid I might loose them, now it seems so trival. I am so so sorry MITCH. We are so proud of You the way you have always helped people in need and being a friend to everyone. And Mitch I do know it now, and am very proud of that. It is overwhelming all people you have touched. We are going to miss You more than you will ever know. We also know how great you were with kids, You would have been great Dad. Wayne, Linda, and Erica, I have such great memories of Mitchell from back when Erica and I played softball together. The cute little brother that accompanied us to all of our games, rode in the back seat with us, and only annoyed us a "little"! I am deeply saddened by this. As long ago as it was, and as many years that have passed, I do remember what a great person Mitchell was. He always had a smile on his face that could brighten anyone's day. I know I will miss him, even though we didn't keep in touch over the years. My deepest condolences for your loss. I hope knowing he's in a better place will give all of you peace. Wow, where do you even start....First off I meet mitch back in the early high school days. Right from the start I knew he would become a great friend. You always saw a smile on his face even at the lowest points. He was always one you could talk to. And the humor in mitch was unreal! He knew how to make anyone laugh! We always looked to see what crazy ideas mitch had up his sleve, and we were right behind him. There are no words to describe what any of us are feeling but we know how much of a healing heart he was and he will never be forgotten! My prayers are with you all.

Always friendly and full of "ENERGY" that is a true description of Mitch. No matter what his age he always made time to talk and update us on his life. You continue to remain our neighbors in the "Cashin Eastates" out on the Prairie....and our LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP for you all continues so strong. We will miss Mitch dearly. Our thoughts and prayers continue to surrond your entire family! Cindy & Gary Hoganson

Memories

Dear Wayne, Linda, Erica and Lindsay, I cannot find the words to tell you how saddened I am to hear about your tragic loss. Mitch always had a smile and was a joy to be around. When I close my eyes, I can still see the young boy with the shy grin that I had in my Sunday School class! Mitch touched many lives and will be greatly missed. May you find solace in the Lord's promise of eternal life in His Kingdom. You are all in my prayers. In Sympathy, Linda Mueller

Memories

We would like to extend our sincere sympothy for Mitch's family and many friends. Mitch will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. We will allways remember the good times driving down 4th street and hanging out at 72 along with the great parties we used to have. Mitch will be remembered to us as a great guy with a good sense of humor who would be there for anyone at anytime or anywhere.

Memories

I first met Mitch when we worked together in the customer service / video department at More4 Foods back in 1997/98. We hit it off instantly - how could anyone not love Mitch? He was one of the friendliest, sweetest, most generous and kindest guys I've ever known. I rarely saw him without a smile or that mischevious sparkle in his eyes. I have so many great memories of Mitch from these past 10 years, but the biggest thing is that Mitch was so good with children, especially his "little man" Jobe. He was so excited to be a daddy and we all know he would have been a fantastic father. The last time that Mitch and I talked, about two weeks ago, he was so excited about the upcoming baby shower. My heart just breaks for Lindsay and their not-yet born Annabelle.. I know how very much he loved you both. Rest in peace Mitchy, my good friend. You are missed and loved dearly by so many.

Memories

Mitch was an awesome individual. He very willingly helped my family out several times with daycare for Pearl, Michael and Camelo. We really had a hard time leaving Pearl with anyone, but she just loved Mitch from day one. He was very patient and compassionate with her. He had a great smile and he was a genuinely caring person. I remember coming to pick up Camelo one day and Kaelynn was there. Mitch and Camelo were playing car and dolls with Kaelynn. Wayne and Linda you have much to be proud of. Mitch made a positive difference in many lives.

I am so sorry to hear about Mitch. He will be missed by so many people. When I think of Mitch he has a smile on his face and is filled with kindess and a helpful heart. I enjoy remembering the memories of time we spent together in confirmation, skiing and hanging out throughout the years in Jr. and Sr. High from time to time. It's been awhile since I've seen Mitch but I will always remember him! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Memories

You were a close friend of my brother, Dane Gilliland. You used to come to my house in Owatonna and sleep on my living room floor. You wanted "Uncle Sam". We were never very close, but you will be missed. My condolences to the family, and to Lindsay and the baby. He would have been proud.

Memories

Wayne, Linda, and Erica- I am so sorry for the loss of Mitch, my heart and prayers go out to all of you in this difficult time. The chain basketball net that still remains at your old home always brings back the best of memories from our youth, much of it spent together doing everything and anything from no boundary kick-the-can to just having a lazy afternoon on the swingset. Mitch was like a brother to me, our friendship going back well over two decades, and while we may have lost the consistent contact we had as part of the Highland neighborhood, per chance meetings were always as if nothing had ever changed. Growing up together, he had a profound impact on the way I look at many things, and still does, and will forever do so. He will be sorely missed, but happily remembered.

Memories

Mitch will be missed for many years to come, especially for a little boy who thought the world of him, and would consider Mitch his best friend. Mitch would of done anything for anyone, and has been there for me with Jobe so many times. I hope he knows how thankful I am for everything he has ever done for us. Jobe always wanted to go play with Mitch and Lindsey, and they loved every minute of it. Mitch and Jobe would play with their car collections, although Jobe thought Mitch's were way cooler. They would also build race tracks and houses out of blocks. They would hang out on the couch and watch various cartoons and the discovery channel. Mitch means the world to Jobe and I think Mitch felt the same way.
