MICHAEL “MIKE” STEIGER
Heather, When I read the obituary page and saw that you were a Newberg, I thought this might be the only way to get in touch with you. I hate to interrupt your grieving for your loving husband. But I am curious if we are related. My Dad's Dad, AC Newberg, was from Sweden and my Dad was born in Chicago.
I will miss Mike very much. Starting with the first day we met in college, he had a huge impact on my life. He was always there for me when I needed him. We had a great friendship over 30 years ... so many good times. I will miss him, but the memories that we had together will live with me forever. Heather and Steiger family, let's stay in touch. Dutch.
I am Mike's sister, Laurie. Thank you to all of you who submitted memories of Mike. Reading them has been so comforting to all of us. We appreciate your thoughts very much. We will all miss Mike very much. Sincerely, Laurie
I remember Mike from high school. He had such a gentle spirit. May his family have comfort in knowing that he touched so many people with his kindness.
My deepest sympathy to all of Mike's loved ones. Mike was so funny. I had the pleasure of attending high school with him. He had a great knack to tease but it was always in fun. I loved listening to him tell stories of the "old" days with all of his buddies. He really was a nice man. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Deb Bass Fotland
Mike and I went to school together at the old One Room School. Many good Memories from our childhood days of "Fox and Goose", Clapping Erasers, and Fetching Water. We were a class of 6 in mid 60's. Mike was always making everone smile and had a contagious personality. Fun seeing him at the Fitch ReUnion. My Sympathy goes out to Diane,Cindy,Laurie,Tom,Bill and the rest of the extended family and friends. God Bless You Jean Jacobs Classmate & Neighbor
We lived across the field from the Steigers as Mike grew up. Mike was in 4-H with our kids and was always such a nice friendly young man. We hated to see him leave the area, but have seen him a few times in the past years. Our love goes out to you and your family and also Cindy, Diane, Lorie, Patty, Tom and Bill. We still live across the field from Bill. I am so sorry we could not attend the funeral, but Wyman has some health problems and we decided to not make the trip. Our sympathy naomi and Wyman black ( old neighbors)
Dear Steiger's, Mike and I were high school classmates, and although we have not seen each other for many years, I have fond memories of Mike from high school. He was a kind person, and I am saddened to hear of your loss. May the memories you have with Mike sustain you today and in the year's ahead, Lisa O'Brien.
Mike was my Uncle and I loved him very much! I will always remember his contagious laugh, arm squeeze and tight hugs. Forever in my memory, and always in my heart! I LOVE YOU!
To the Steiger Family - Mike was one of a kind. I went to school with him from the days of Fitch to JM Class of 1976. We had some run-ins as kids - friendly fights that we laughed about at the Fitch reunion. Saw him when he was voting last fall and caught up a bit on family. My greatest sympathies to the whole family -
Dear Steiger family, my memories of Mike go back to high school and working at Rochester Silo. Mike was the kind of person who always had a big smile on his face and was kind to everyone. He was well liked, a hard worker and was always willing to lend a hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time, With deepest sympathy, Dean
My deepest sympathies to you Heather, the boys and Mikes family. Sometimes things don't make sense and know that they don't have to. Just remember the good times, the love you shared, and that is all that matters. It was evident that Mike loved you all. He was a very special and caring person to all that knew him. He was very good at bringing a smile to all he talked to. One of the most upbeat people I have met. He will be missed greatly. My heart goes out to you all!!
Heather: May the Lord wrap His loving arms around you and give you peace in this time of sorrow. I am so terribly sorry to learn of your loss.
We all enjoyed how Mike would light up the room when he came in - he was one of the most engaging people I know. We all love him for his spirit, his "in your face" personality that would eventually draw ALL to his friendhip. His heart drove his actions. We can all be better people if we let his example lead our actions on the future ! We'll truly miss Mike, and our hearts go out to you - Heather, and the entire family.
Heather, Not sure what to say..I am so sorry. Just remember that we are there for you WHEN EVER you need us. Day or night. We will keep you,the boys and Mike's family in our prayers. Together we can get through this ONE DAY AT A TIME!!! God Bless Deb
