Memories

I returned from the funeral service today thinking about a great lady that was a friend to my parents for many, many years as well as to myself. When I was three years old my grandma kept telling my mom that there must be something medically wrong with me because my face was really filling out. The doctors kept telling my mom time and time again that I was just getting fat. Finally after enough urging, my mom went to a different doctor that told her I needed to get to either the University of Minnesota Hospital or Rochester that very day. My dad was not one to drive in the cities, plus he had a full barn of cows that needed milking. They decided to see if maybe Dorothy could take Mom and I up to the cities. I had been at the doctor in Faribault, so they drove straight to Dorothy's house. As it turned out, Fran, I guess you had just come home from the hospital with a new baby and were going to spend a few days at your mom's where she could help you out for a bit. Dorothy was a bit hesitant about leaving you Fran, but you told her to go...you'd be fine. So off we went and I was admittend to the U of M for eleven days with a kidney issue(I wasn't getting fat, I was retaining fluid). Dorothy also took both my mom and dad up there the next day so that Dad could see where to drive and just where they needed to be.I really believe that because of Dorothy my little life was saved, I know she sure was a lifesaver for Mom and Dad. It was hard to go through a funeral service for such a wonderful lady, but it was a beautiful service and I'm sure Dorothy was very proud to hear all the wonderful things that were said about her. I know you will miss her, we will all miss her. She will be remembered as a great, great lady and a wonderful friend. God Bless, -=[Diane]=-
