Darlene Molmen


Darlene L. (Mrs. Virlyn) Molmen, age 80, of Faribault, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 31, 2010 following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Richard L. Jorgensen, pastor of First English Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Darlene LaMarr Lampert was born on December 6, 1929 in Carrington, ND to Boyd and Mabel (Moberg) Lampert. She graduated from Carrington High School, Carrington, ND. She worked for several firms in North Dakota as a bookkeeper.

Darlene married Virlyn Molmen in Fargo, ND on December 16, 1961 with her cousin Fred Moberg officiating. Two children, Anita and Shanon were born to this couple. The family moved to Brooklyn Center in 1966, then to Faribault in 1973. In Faribault, Darlene was employed as the bookkeeper for Payant Drug Store from 1973 to 1994, at which time she retired. She was an expert seamstress and wonderful cook, enjoyed crocheting and knitting, playing pinochle, reading, traveling, watching American Idol and Dancing With The Stars and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Virlyn; daughter, Anita (and Tim); grandson, Matthew (and Jenni) Boyum; granddaughter, Kristen (and Nick) Emblom; great grandson, Colton Boyum; two sisters, Sandra Blow and Jeri Emery; and a brother, Tom Roush.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Shanon; her stepfather, Jerald Roush; and her brother, Darrell Lampert.
