THEODORE "TED" HERDA

Services: Divine Mercy Catholic Church - 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault
  Friday, February 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation: The Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault
  Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service in the church on Friday.

Theodore "Ted" Herda, age 81 of Faribault died on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault, with military rites provided by the Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, February 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Theodore Francis, the son of Wenceslas "Jim" and Adeline (Tupy) Herda, was born November 15, 1930 in Lonsdale. He graduated from New Prague High School with the Class of 1950 and Dunwoody Institute in 1956. Ted married Ann Marie Nohava on October 8, 1955 in Lonsdale. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was formerly employed with Mercury Minnesota as a foreman in the welding department. He also was a school bus driver. Ted was a member of the Divine Mercy Paradisum Choir, American Legion, Post 43; Knights of Columbus, Council 889; and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1460, all of Faribault. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie of Faribault; six daughters, Debra (and Craig) Thurston of Mt. Dora, FL, Therese (and Ken) Krenz of Faribault, Michelle (and Dan) Ouellette of Morristown, Diane Herda of Northfield, Donna (and Mark) Koppes of Phoenix, AZ and Lori Herda (and Bill Seibel) of Faribault; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe (and Elaine) Herda of Faribault and Florian (and Judy) Herda of Spokane, WA; four sisters, Adeline (and Ed) Cleasby of Lonsdale, Bernice "Bea" (and Val) Rukavina of Minnetonka, Rita Herda of Faribault and Lois Kelly of Northfield; brothers in law, William "Bill" (and Rose) Nohava of Northfield, Ted (and Rhonda) Nohava of Lakeview, CO and Tom (and Shirley) Nohava of Lonsdale; sisters in law, Mary Nohava of Lonsdale and Betty Schweim of Mankato; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers in law, Charles Kelly, Gerald Nohava and LeRoy Schweim.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Faribault Area Hospice or donorís choice.

To the Herda family. My father Gene Ims worked at Mercury for many years and was a good friend of Ted's. Dad spoke for highly of Mr. Herda. Not long ago I re-discovered a plaque from an Easter bowling tournament Grandpa and I partnered in back in 1991. I don't remember the scores but I'm pretty sure we did well and certain we had a good time.
