HARLAND KELM

Services  Trinity Lutheran Church, Faribault

Visitation The Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m.
  and at the church for one hour prior to the service on Friday, June 22, 2012

Harland Kelm, age 92, of Faribault, died on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the St. Lucas Care Center.

Services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Faribault with the Reverend Steven J. Kuehne, officiating. Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. and also in the church for one hour prior to the services on Friday.

Harland H., the son of Walter C. and Ella A. (Olp) Kelm was born on September 1, 1919 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1937. He was united in marriage to Mertis Akemann on June 21, 1945 in Faribault. Harland was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and he served on many church boards. He also served on the Camp Omega Board.

Harland farmed his entire life in Warsaw Township and served on the Warsaw Township Board, the Rice County Planning and Zoning Board and was a supervisor of the Rice County Soil and Water Conservation District. He served as Chair of the Cardinal Pointe Board of Directors and was a member of the Faribault Area Senior Citizens.

He is survived by two sons, Jim (and Barb) Kelm of Red Wing, and Dale (and Theresa) Kelm of Faribault; one daughter, Judy (and Brad) Covert of Faribault; nine grandchildren, Heidi (and Tim) Arbisi-Kelm, Gretchen Kelm, Rebecca (and Jake) Good, Karen (and Joe) Biwersi, Brenda (and Jeffrey) Miller, Carla (and Nathan) Agre, Sarah (and fiancé, Derek Wolfe) Covert, Andrew Covert and Joel Covert; seven great-grandchildren, Greyson Good, David and Michael Biwersi, Hope and Elijah Miller, and Ethan and Evan Agre.

Harland was preceded in death by his wife, Mertis in 2009; and his parents.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Omega, Faribault Area Senior Citizens or donor's choice.

I met Harlan when he moved to Cardinal Point. He was my Mom's friend and whenever I came to visit Faribault, I would have a chance to talk with him. I enjoyed getting to know him and he was a delight to talk twith and share experiences.
