Memories

John was my "great uncle", significant other to my great uncle Ollie. It was always a great visit when they would come out to stay with my grandparents here in Washington State. They would bring presents/souvenirs from their travels, tell stories of what they have seen/where they have been and John would always share new and eccentric recipes! He was always a kind man who was passionate about his work within schools. John will be missed and always in our thoughts and prayers.

Shannon and I just learned of John's passing this evening. Our hearts go out to Ollie and John's family. I will always remember the way he carried himself, and the way he would tell a story.

Memories

John and I were office partners in Mankato during my first four years on staff with the Minnesota Education Association, and he provided a lot of assistance to me during those years. He was always a professional, and he cared a great deal about the teachers in the Cannon Valley UniServ. Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Memories

To laugh often and much, to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world. - Ralph Waldorf Emerson Ollie, you and John did all of this together. The two of you brought so much happiness to your neighbors and friends on Roberds Lake and did so much for my Mom after Dad died. I will never forget you and John. Thank you. The union the two of you shared... Real love stories never end. My love is sent to you. I wish you peace and healing. Kristine

Memories

My memory of John in the 80's and 90's, brings back an image of a tireless worker, dedicated to make a difference in education in Minnesota, specifically the Cannon Valley Area. John Martin was an advocate for good things for students and teachers; I learned a lot from him. John's professionalism and accomplishments are remembered and appreciated, but he will also be remembered for his and Ollie's gracious hosting of a good time at the lake. For Ollie, and the rest of John's family, God's blessings on you all.
