Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. and also at the church for one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Leander was born on March 27, 1924, the son of Jacob and Frances (Gerardy) Odenthal. He spent his childhood years growing up on the family farm just north of Heidelberg, MN. Leander attended a small country school in Heidelberg through 8th grade. He enlisted in the Army on February 20, 1946 and served as a Military Police. He was honorably discharged on November 8, 1946 and returned home to farm and haul milk for Montgomery Creamery. Leander met his wife, Theresa Trcka in 1959 and they were married on February 20, 1960 at Sacred Heart Church in Faribault. They began their married life on their farm, south of Lonsdale. They had four daughters and Leander continued to farm and worked as a carpenter for Pavek and Busch Construction on New Prague. After seven years, they moved their family into the city of Lonsdale. Leander continued his work in construction. His love of carpentry led him to make many useful and unique items that his family and friends cherish to this day. After living in Lonsdale for 41 years, Leander and Theresa moved to Faribault in 2001 to be near their children who also live in Faribault.

Leander is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Theresa; three daughters, Mary (and David) Peterson, Jean (and James) Moriarity and Dawn Odenthal all of Faribault; seven grandchildren, Jesse (and Jana) Odenthal, Jacob (and Roxanna) Moriarity, Casey Hurley, Danielle Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Julia Moriarity and Jerad Moriarity; three great grandchildren, Addisyn, Lilyana and Skylar; a sister, Delores Hoffman of Belle Plaine; four sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Hurley; his parents; four brothers, Eugene, Roman, Leo and Willy; two infant sisters, LaDonna and Madonna.

Leander will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
