Lola May Melchert


Lola May Melchert, age 90, of Sauk Centre and formerly of Faribault died on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud.

Funeral services will be held at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Lola May, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Karow) Kropp was born on March 12, 1924 in Faribault. She graduated from Faribault High School. She married Donald E. Melchert on January 10, 1946 in Faribault and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1973. She was formerly employed by Ochs Department and Faribault Regional Center both of Faribault and later by Sauk Centre Juvenile Correctional Facility. Lola enjoyed cooking and baking; shopping; traveling; and especially spending time with her family.

She is survived by two children, Melissa (and Brian) Hoeschen of St. Michael and Charles (and Polly) Melchert of Humboldt, IA; five grandchildren, Jason (and Micah) Melchert, Maria (and Aaron) Wernimont, Rachel (and Martin) Kinning, Jaimie (and Eric) Larson and Aric (and Colleen) Hoeschen; one great grand-daughter, Sophie Kinning.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; one sister, Betty Grundman; and her parents.

Hi Melissa, Thinking of you and sending my sympathies to you and Chuck and your families. I remember your mom used to sit outside by her front door and as I'd go by with my boys when they were little we'd say hi to her on our my mom's house. Wow, how time flies. Take care Tracy :)
