Visitation: The Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault
  Tuesday, January 27th from 4 to 7 p.m.

 

Helen L. Howie, age 88 of Alexandria and formerly Faribault, died on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at St. Luke's Church, Faribault on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Aaron Brockmeier officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Tuesday, January 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Helen Louise, the daughter of Levi and Melinda (Bauer) Stoxen, was born May 1, 1926 in Taylor, ND. She graduated from Faribault Senior High School in 1944. Helen married Robert Howie on November 13, 1948 in Faribault and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1993. She was previously employed with Faribault Public Schools and the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind. She was very active at St. Luke's Church including teaching Sunday school and the church choir. Helen loved to play "500", was a fantastic cook and was always concerned with others well being.

She is survived by two children, Dee Ann (and Tom) Kraemer and Kevin Howie, all of Alexandria; three grandsons, Brandon Howie of Minneapolis, Jeff Kraemer and Greg Kraemer, both of Ft. Worth, TX; one great grandson, Tyler Casarez-Kraemer; one brother, Wilfred (and Marilyn) Stoxen of Brainerd and one sister in law, Isabel Lambert of Faribault; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert and a sister, Norma Piper.
