Neal Allen Bodin

 

Neal Allen Bodin, 92, died on January 1, 2015. Neal was born on April 7, 1922, to Nels and Augusta Bodin of St. Paul, MN. Following the tragic deaths of his parents in the tuberculosis epidemic, Neal and his surviving brother, Lawrence, lived some years in an orphanage for children whose parents had succumbed to TB. Neal and his brother eventually went to live with his motherís sister and her husband. From then on, Neal had two brother-cousins and one sister-cousin. Neal was graduated from Mound High School. He received his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota.

As a young man, Neal contracted tuberculosis and was sent to the Glen Lake Sanatorium for recovery. There he met the love of his life, Lois, who had been sent to the sanatorium after being diagnoses with kidney disease.

Neal and Lois had four children: Larry, Roger (and Jan), Jan (and Deb) and Bruce (and Sara). They had six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Neal worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric for 19 years and then worked for Ulteig Engineers for 14 years before retirement.

He and Lois are members of Elim Lutheran Church, Robbinsdale. They enjoyed Bible Study, cards, golf, traveling and family. Neal was preceded in death by his baby brother, Roger, his brother, Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Bonnie and a great grandson.

A memorial service will be held at Elim Lutheran Church, 40th and West Broadway, Robbinsdale, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, with visitation one hour prior at the church.

Memorials preferred to the Elim Lutheran Church Organ Fund.

Shared many good time with Neal and Lois, usually involving golfing. Neal was a trustworthy friend and consultant in many power engineering projects.
