SHIRLEY (HOTTLE) JOHNSON

 

Shirley A. (Hottle) Johnson, age 63, of Deer River and formerly of Faribault, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Faribault.

Memorial services will be held in the auditorium at the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf, Faribault, on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 3 p.m. with a time of gathering continuing until 5 p.m.

Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.

Shirley Avis, the daughter of Victor and Nada (Buckman) Hottle, was born on September 16, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State School for the Deaf in 1971. She competed in the Deaf Olympics in 1969 and 1973 as a swimmer. She married Ronald G. Johnson on May 26, 1973 in Deer River. They currently own and operate an organic farm in Deer River.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; four children, Robin (and Jenene) Johnson of Faribault, Shanada (and Mark) Schwartz of Faribault, Shawn (and Jennifer) Johnson of Austin, TX and Rochella (and Lee) Jones of Faribault; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; five siblings, Sally (and Dave) Barnett of Irwin, PA, Sherry (and Delos) Sparks of Omaha, NE, Sonny Hottle of Arnold, CA, Scott (and April) Hottle of Ripley, WV and Stuart (and Tammy) Hottle of Faribault; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ronda Johnson; her parents; and one brother, Steve Hottle.

Shirley was always wanting to know more, and to share more. Her patient efforts to help me learn more ASL, was always so appreciated. Ron and family, we lift you in prayer and bless you. Shirley was my amazing, awesome and good friend for many years! She was very patience and listener when I asked her questions about the farm products and my personal stuff. We enjoyed to feedback about new things. She encouraged me being positive and happy. She had a beautiful spiritually and smiling. I really miss her very much!! Remembering Shirley with so many fond memories of church together when we were all younger, and of how patiently she answered my questions about farm products, and how our conversations always turned to many other topics. She gave so much joy in her smile and her caring and loving attitude. I will so greatly miss her. I look forward to being reunited in heaven, where there will be no more sorrow and no more tears.
