Julie E. (Hanegraaf) Thompson, age 66, of Faribault, passed away peacefully at Owatonna Homestead Hospice surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, March 27, 2015.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault at a later date.

A memorial visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. and also for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Julie Ellen Hanegraaf was born on March 23, 1949 to William and LaJune (Brossard) Hanegraaf in Faribault. Julie attended Immaculate Conception and Bethlehem Academy. Julie was married to William Thompson but later divorced. Julie worked as a beautician for a short period of time and then worked at Jostens in Owatonna for 10 years. She also worked at KGP for 10 years and retired from Charter Communications where she worked for 11 years. Julie's life was centered on her family and friends. Her second love was sports, especially golf. Julie would get up in the early morning and play a round alone on occasion.

Julie is survived by two sons, Dana (Melissa) Thompson and their two children, Zachary and Jordan of Faribault and Shawn (Amy) Thompson and their son, Connor of Bradenton, FL; one sister, Jan (Fred) Bettner of Faribault and their son, Fred (Nichole) and daughter, Ella of Owatonna; one brother-in-law, Merle Vold of Faribault; and Julie's loving friend, Mark Rosenau of Faribault, and his son, Andy.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, William and LaJune Hanegraaf; her sister, Mary Vold; and her ex-husband, William Thompson.

We are so saddened to have read this today. We had the pleasure of being on co-ed bowling together (back in the day) with Dana also. She always answered our questions at Charter when need be. What a wonderful friend and co-worker Julie was. I will miss her. She was one of the kindest to all she met and worked with. She was so proud of her grandchildren and loved to share what they were becoming. I am blessed to have been a friend of hers.
